Emily Douglas and Karen Gooch carry on the tradition of beloved sewing shop and pattern design company, Children’s Corner, building on timeless classics while looking for modern trends.
It’s been 38 years since a group of Nashville women joined in the shared vision of Children’s Corner to offer sewing instruction and patterns, especially heirloom designs, and the new owners want to continue that tradition—all under one umbrella.
Since the beginning, Children’s Corner Store had operated separately from Children’s Corner Pattern Company, although the companies have shared inspiration and, at times, space. About four years ago, Emily Douglas and Karen Gooch became the fifth owners of the fabric and notions store, and two years later, they bought the pattern company to officially bring the two together. Emily and Karen, both avid seamstresses, whole-heartedly share the goal of the founders to spread the experience of sewing. They want to continue to supply quality fabrics, notions and heirloom patterns, but are adding modern patterns and some new social media twists like blogging and videos.
