Jeannie Downs Baumeister is quick to say she is “old-fashioned,” a trait that has served her well in 26 years in the sewing industry as a teacher, designer, columnist, curator, shop owner, and most recently, a blogger. While blogging isn’t old style, it’s the focus of her work that is. Her new Sewing Room Blog can be found here!
Jeannie designs children’s heirloom clothing and teaches vintage techniques that are her signature in the trade. Everything from the designs of her baby clothing to the name of her online shop, “The Old Fashioned Baby” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is old-fashioned because “the term gives me a sense of a timeless enduring value,” she says. “I am not a modern girl.”
