A Note from the Editor: Here’s What You Need to Know About Our Latest Happenings

Kathy McMakin, Editor of Classic Sewing magazine

Dear Friends,

I just love seeing little boys in cute clothes! The Color Pop shirt from our Autumn 2019 issue is one of my favorites, as I can add any accent color to the garment. Evy Hawkins knows how to design clothes that bring smiles to little faces, and this one is a classic.

We’re so excited to introduce the first two patterns for The Doll Club with Connie Palmer: a top, pants, and shirt ensemble, and a bridal dress, slip, and veil! Both of these 18″ doll outfits are precious and so easy to make. Connie is a master at making doll clothes, and you’ll love all the little details in each of these outfits.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to the club, we invite you join the fun. Members of the 2019 Doll Club will receive two more patterns in early October, two more patterns in early November, plus a bonus pattern in mid-November. By the time the holiday season is in full swing, you’ll have an entire wardrobe of seven doll garments ready to wrap up and put under the tree for your little girl.

We have several Original Sewing & Quilt Expo events coming up over the next few weeks! The next stop is in Worcester, MA, September 12, 13, and 14; followed by Cincinnati, OH, September 19, 20, and 21; and Fredericksburg, VA, October 3, 4, and 5. If you live near one of these areas, come see us for classes, shopping, and lots of sewing fun. In Fredericksburg, Alicia Welcher and I will also be teaching a “More the Days Before” workshop on October 1 and 2. We’ll spend two days sewing, serging, and embroidering while making a collection of great projects.

Have a wonderful week. Keep those sewing machines humming!

All the best,

Kathy McMakin
