A Note from the Editor: Here’s What You Need to Know About Our Latest Happenings

Kathy McMakin, Editor of Classic Sewing magazine

Dear Sewing Friends,

We rarely think of black fabric and heirloom sewing as being a traditional combination, but our Holiday 2020 issue of Classic Sewing offers several women’s garments that prove the two pair perfectly together. Margaret Rose, designed by Amelia Johanson, is one of those designs, and it is so sophisticated and glamorous. Silk velvet, dupioni, cotton netting, satin, and French lace work together beautifully on this special occasion top.

Have you stitched our new Baby’s Busy Day machine embroidery designs yet? I think these new designs are so sweet. We have quilt kits available in two colorways, if you want to use these designs to make a keepsake baby quilt!

We have lots of new start-anytime and live online classes in the works for you. Alicia Welcher just announced she’ll be teaching her Quilt As You Serge Carrot project from our Spring 2017 issue of Classic Sewing on March 4. You’ll learn so much in this live class, and you’ll have the cutest Easter project to show for it!

Please stay safe and sew, sew, sew!
