A Note from the Editor: Here’s What You Need to Know About Our Latest Happenings

Kathy McMakin, Editor of Classic Sewing magazine

Dear Sewing Friends,

Embroidery Club members, rejoice! Your second installment for the 2019 club is here. We have two beautiful new design collections for you: the Lady’s Vintage Collection, which was inspired by embroidered antique handkerchiefs, and Pretty Parisian Parasols, a whimsical and versatile set of designs. We also have a bonus project for you! So many of you loved the pillow that Connie Palmer created using the Antique French Dot Alphabet designs from your first installment; now you can create your own version using the instructions we’ve added to your alphabet download files.

We have many more designs in the works for our 2019 Embroidery Club members. You can expect to receive lots more collections between now and December.

The Autumn 2019 issue of Classic Sewing is available now, and we’ve loved reading your sweet comments on social media as you thumb through the pages for the first time. I love the Marlene Blouse by Sis Hutchison. It’s perfect for ladies of all ages, and it offers so many possibilities for design variations and embellishments. There are a limited number of kits available in our online shop for the two versions featured in the magazine.

We have lots of great events coming up, and we’d love to have you join us! We’ll be on the road soon for Original Sewing & Quilt Expo events in various cities across the country. You can also join us here in Birmingham, Alabama, this fall for two great events: a Martha Pullen Teacher Licensing retreat, “Sew Beautiful! Charming Stitches, Delightful Details, and Incredible Techniques,” happening October 27–November 1, 2019, and our first Classic Sewing event, which will take place immediately after the licensing on November 2–6, 2019. We hope to see you there. Visit our events page to learn more and register.

Have a wonderful week!

All the best,

Kathy McMakin
