1. Fuse Dream Weave Ultra to the wrong side of the square of leather (photo 1).

2. Print templates of your design to use for embroidery placement. Roughly cut the templates out, making sure to not cut off the center registrations lines.

3. Place the cut-out templates onto the leather in the desired manner (photo 2) and tape in place using the Embroidery Perfection tape.

Note: If you would like your leather flap to have a certain shape such as the one shown on the messenger bag, you might find it easier to cut the leather to shape prior to setting the templates. If you do so, cut your shape a bit larger than will be needed and trim down after embroidery is complete.

4. Hoop one layer of Wet-N-Stick Tearaway stabilizer with the adhesive side up (photo 3).

5. Apply a few drops of water to the surface of the stabilizer. Smooth the drops out using your fingertip or a small, clean sponge. The water will activate the adhesive and make it tacky to the touch. Remember that very little water is needed.

6. Adhere the leather to the stabilizer, right side up (photo 4). The templates are not shown in Photo 4, but will be taped to your leather. Make sure that they are within the embroidery area of the hoop.

7. Attach the hoop to the machine and float one layer of Medium Tearaway stabilizer under the hoop (photo 5).

8. Insert the size 90/14 chrome leather needle and thread with embroidery thread in the needle and bobbin thread in the bobbin.

9. Embroider the design (photo 6).

10. Tear away the excess Medium Tearaway stabilizer from the back of the embroidery (photo 7).

11. Pull the Dream Weave fusible away from the leather up to the embroidery (photo 8).  The Wet-N-Stick stabilizer should also pull away at the same time. If the adhesive on the stabilizer is sticking, wet the stabilizer again and it will pull away. Cut the excess Wet-N-Stick stabilizer and Dream Weave Ultra away close to the stitching (photo 9).

12. Using a press cloth, lightly press the leather from the back (photo 10).
