Phyllis Hoffman DePiano

Dear Sewing Friends,

It is with great sadness that we share with you, our readers, the news of the passing of Phyllis Hoffman DePiano, Hoffman Media’s founder/chairman of the board and our dear friend and mentor. Phyllis was a true pioneer in the publishing industry, creating our dynamic company 40 years ago with the single magazine, Just CrossStitch. With this ground-breaking magazine, she paved a way for additional insightful, innovative, specialty magazines to come to life. Her influence has left an indelible mark on the industry, Hoffman Media, Classic Sewing, and our hearts.

We are all heartbroken as we mourn the loss of our precious friend. There are no words that adequately express how much we love and miss our Phyllis. Though her absence will be felt daily, we are so very thankful she is no longer struggling but is whole and in the presence of the Lord she loved and served all her life; I know the Lord greeted her with “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

We will forever hold Phyllis in our hearts. Therefore, in lieu of our regular newsletter this coming week, we will honor Phyllis by sharing some of her favorite sewing projects and stories she’s shared with us over the years.

Phyllis Hoffman DePiano and Kathy McMakinWe will continue to honor Phyllis’ memory and legacy in the pages of Classic Sewing as well as our online classes and face-to-face events, bringing joy, inspiration, excellence, creativity, and beautiful projects to you, our sewing community. As she so inspired others, we will continue to inspire.

With love,

Kathy McMakin
