Welcome to our Oh! Christmas Tree Apron Sew-Along, sponsored by our friends at HUSQVARNA® VIKING®! We are so glad that you have joined us!

Our sew-along is going to last for four weeks, after which you will have adorable aprons for the entire family to wear during the upcoming holiday season! During our first week, we are going to cover the supplies that you will need and all the fabric preparation and cutting steps. In week 2, we will learn all about machine embroidery using the Ribbon Embroidery Attachment and also about manual applique by machine. Week 3 brings additional embellishments of decorative bands, piping and pockets. And finally, in week 4, we will finish constructing our aprons! Before you get started, click here to visit the sew-along homepage, where you can download the free Oh! Christmas Tree Apron PDF pattern and enter for your chance to win an EPIC™ 95Q sewing machine from HUSQVARNA® VIKING®!

Additional Supplies Needed for Machine Embroidery Version

  • Medium tear-away stabilizer
  • Embroidery Design. The design used in the samples is Ribbon Embroidery Attachment Appliqué Christmas Tree from the mySewnet Library. It is available with a current subscription or through an individual design purchase at www.mysewnet.com.
  • Embroidery hoop appropriate for chosen design (360×260 if using the design showcased on the samples)
  • HUSQVARNA® VIKING® Ribbon Embroidery Attachment
  • 3 yards of chosen embellishment material for garland. Note: if you use a different design, this amount will vary. Do not let yourself get caught up in the fact the attachment you are using has “Ribbon” in its name. You can use anything in the attachment that can glide through it easily and can fit in the “ribbon” ring. In our samples, we used 3/8” satin ribbon on the Ladies apron and mini rickrack on the Girl’s apron. When we show you how to use the attachment in a later lesson, we will be using 3/8” grosgrain ribbon. Think how pretty a metallic middy braid or a metallic yarn would be! There are loads of embellishment possibilities!

Additional Supplies Needed for Manual Machine Appliqué Version

  • Various sizes and colors of buttons for embellishment
  • Lightweight tear-away stabilizer
