Pattern By Sue Stewart
These sophisticated shirts were made from the StyleArc Marley Woven Shark’s Teeth Shirt pattern available for purchase as a pdf from the StyleArc store, or as a paper pattern shipped from Australia. Any button-front shirt pattern without a separate front placket would work well too. Both versions shown are handkerchief linen, and can be worn buttoned as a shirt or open as a light jacket.
“It’s hard to believe that twenty-five years have passed since my first article on Shark’s Teeth was published! The technique was greeted with delight and enthusiasm, and its popularity has not faded in all these years. So many heirloom embellishments are more suited for children than adults, yet sometimes we want to do some heirloom sewing for ourselves. Shark’s Teeth fills the bill. It is non-frilly, and just as lovely on a tailored shirt as on a girl’s dress or home-dec item.” –SUE STEWART
