Sonia Showalter - Classic Sewing

By Sonia Showalter

Every little girl has the perfect fairytale dress in mind. The first requirement is a full, flowing skirt that flutters when she walks. This bold orange dress is the Petite Boutique Girl’s Bodice with a full circle skirt. Sonia Showalter has captured not only the hearts of little maidens but captured the hearts of sewists as well! This creative bodice technique requires no sewing on a traditional sewing machine but is simply laced together after the machine embroidery is completed.

I don’t pray for God to give me designs, but I do know that He gives me the gifts of imagination, creativity, and determination on a daily basis. He made me an artist; it is what I was born to be. Every day I wake up filled with such gratitude that I feel like I need to pinch myself. How incredible to be able to make a living as an artist! I am in love with what I do.

Lace was the last thing I thought I would be creating when I started out in machine embroidery design. Not because I didn’t like it, but simply because I thought there was already enough of it out there. You see, when everyone seems to be doing a “thing,” I tend to purposely go in the other direction.
