When the warm sunny days of summer are here and light flowy garments are in order, it’s time to get sewing! Tops and dresses that are comfy to wear will be her favorites for the season. Adorable tops, when worn with shorts, rank high on most girls’ list for her summer wardrobe. When the tops are embellished in several different ways, they look totally different with your creativity! Carefully placed bridging is easy to add and totally changes the look for the tops.

True to its name, the Blythe (designed by Jill Coppock of JillyAtlanta) is the epitome of carefree and playful! Let her frolic in the meadow, play a game of hide-and-seek, or pick up pebbles along the seashore. Whatever her activity, Blythe has her covered. A timeless, vintage look is paired with a modern, clean cut.

Suggested woven fabrics are quilter’s cotton, voile, seersucker, chambray, lightweight linen, lightweight denim, lightweight flannel, double gauze, or rayon.

This Blythe pattern has many options, including short or long top lengths as well as dress lengths, sleeveless or flutter sleeves, and with or without the bridging inlay.

The short top length in this pattern is shorter than typical Jilly blouses and falls a couple of inches below the waistline. The Blythe in the short length is perfect for those who wish to pair with JillyAtlanta, Mona shorts or for the little ones, the Mae Diaper Cover (free on the JillyAtlanta Facebook sewing group), which shows off the shorts or diaper cover without covering them entirely. Vintage-length top + bloomers = instant cuteness!

The long top length is more of a tunic length and so becomes the go-to for those who love to wear leggings and skinny jeans.

It is amazing how fabric makes garments appear totally different. The bold, bright oversized floral is a sassy look when paired with her favorite sunglasses!

For a demure, soft look, the delicate floral fabric is a perfect choice. Whatever you can imagine, with just a few changes, this one pattern is your summer go-to for play clothes.
