The Reproductions Dress

By Sue Stewart

Some of the sweetest baby dresses from our past were hand-fashioned in the ‘50s. Sue Stewart reproduces a favorite family portrait dress to bring Classic Sewing readers a new pattern teeming with 1950s charm. The Reproductions Dress

I have a photo from 1956 of me wearing the soft blue and white dress (Baby Susan, top right). When my daughter was born, my mother said she wanted me to have her photographed in the dress, too. That photo is from 1983 (Baby Annie, lower right). Several years ago, Mom said that she had saved the dress, and asked if I wanted it…of course! The pattern for Sue’s reproduction (sizes 6M-4), complete with instructions and supply list, can be found in our Spring 2017 issue’s pattern envelope.
